Farewell to a Champion of Movies with Impact

So sorry to hear about the demise of Participant Media, the best movie studio you may never have heard of. Dedicated to supporting films that convey important social messages, Participant won 21 Oscars with films ranging from AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH and FOOD INC. to ROMA, SPOTLIGHT, and LINCOLN. (The picture above shows the leaders of the Participant team in better times--from a Vanity Fair profile just four years ago.) I got to edit a number of companion books for Participant films, and I admire their dedicated professional team, especially the gifted and generous Lynn Hirschfield. Audiences and the industry that serves them need to find time, money, and resources to support world-changing movies like these!
